Oil and gas bearing basins with AHRP are widespread today. Examples are the fields of Western Siberia, the South Caspian, the Volga-Ural territories, the Persian and Mexican Gulfs, etc.
The signs of abnormal high pore pressure are the deviation of the pore pressure from the hydrostatic one. At the same time, today there is no device that allows continuous recording of reservoir (pore) pressure. Measurements while drilling are possible only at certain points.
Therefore, pore pressure prediction is made by 1D geomechanical modeling based on log data (gamma, acoustics, resistivity, etc.), surface and borehole seismic surveys. It is also possible to carry out assessments in real time by recalculating data in the drilled intervals and refining the forecast wellbore.
It is also possible to calculate pore pressures based on a 3D geomechanical model using calibrations from 1D models and direct measurements. This allows you to restore the distribution of abnormal high pore pressure over the entire simulated volume.
Knowing the depth distribution of pore pressure in rocks makes it possible to choose the optimal well design, drilling and cementing technology, which allows drilling without complications and accidents.
Thus, the evaluation of the abnormal high pore pressure is a necessary condition for the successful implementation of drilling in the search and development of hydrocarbons, as well as ensuring reliable subsequent operation of the well.
